Volunteer Information

What?
Xstream Cleanup is a Quad-Cities initiative to clean up our waterways with the goal of maintaining clean water for drinking, recreation, wildlife and commerce.

Our partners provide fun, worthwhile volunteer opportunities that give you a reason to get out, have fun, get dirty and make a difference!

When? Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year, with most cleanup events being held in spring and fall.

Where? Volunteers are needed for events around the Quad-Cities, in both Scott County, Iowa, and Rock Island County, Illinois.

How do I participate? Anyone interested in making a difference in cleaning up, maintaining, and beautifying our natural areas and waterways is encouraged to participate. No previous experience is necessary!

volunteers.jpg What do I need? Your cleanup organizer will let you know what you need to wear or bring the day of the cleanup. Any questions you have should be directed to the organizer.

However, in general, it's a good idea to wear a pair of rubber boots or old gym shoes. Do not wear sandals! Wear long pants. Normally, cleanup supplies such as bags, gloves, and litter tongs are provided to you. You are welcome to bring your own personal cleanup supplies, equipment, rubber boots, or hip waders if desired.

Depending on the weather, remember to wear sunscreen and/or bug spray. You may also want to bring a towel or plastic bag to cover the interior of your car should you get wet or muddy during the event.
